These lists belong partly to the reign of James I. and partly to that of Charles II. In his introduction the Editor has brought together several other important documents connected with the history of the refugees, their reception, and the manufactures which they contributed to establish in various parts of the country. The Editor has also added, from various quarters notices of such families as are still flourishing in this country in positions of greater or less distinction. The lists contain the names of the French and other refugees who in 1622, were resident in St. Martin’s-le-Grand in London, also Canterbury, Maidstone, and the Cinque Ports, Norwich and Colchester. Also of the refugees who came into this country between the years of 1678 and 1688.
