Published as Number XVI in the History and Law Series of the Board of Celtic Studies, this volume provides a critical edition and translation of the Red Book of Hergest version of the primary medieval Welsh chronicle. The text charts the history of Wales from the late 7th century to the late 13th century. Thomas Jones supplies a parallel layout with the Middle Welsh text on the left-hand pages and the English translation on the right-hand pages, supplemented by critical textual variants, an introduction on manuscript relations, and an explanatory notes section.
A 1955 first edition critical text and English translation of the Red Book of Hergest version of Brut Y Tywysogyon. It serves as a parallel-text primary historical source for medieval Wales from 682 to 1282 AD.
